MeetElijahWoods

We’re excited to introduce Elijah Woods, our newest intern at Hogar Hispano Inc.! Elijah has lived in Arizona since he was just two years old, and he brings a thoughtful, creative, and community-driven spirit to our team.

Work & School

Elijah was introduced to HHI through the City of Phoenix youth program after attending a workforce event with his mom. He joined this internship to gain experience, expand his skills, and explore career paths—having previously considered refrigeration maintenance, but now wanting to see what else is out there. He’s especially interested in video editing and is eager to support HHI’s video projects while he’s here.

He hopes to learn more about real estate during his internship but is open to learning about everything. His dream job? A fitness coach. And when it comes to personality, Elijah is both a planner and a go-with-the-flow person—depending on the situation.

Fun & Personality

Elijah’s go-to comfort food? Cookies and cream ice cream. When it comes to drinks, he loves a chai tea latte but also enjoys black coffee—sometimes with a little cream and sugar. His favorite movie is La La Land, and he’s a big fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender. On his travel bucket list are Japan and Iceland, and while he loves both cats and dogs, he currently has a dog.

Creative & Imaginative

If Elijah could have dinner with anyone in history, it would be Alexander the Great—he’d want to understand what motivated someone who conquered so much of the world. As a superhero, he’d choose superspeed like The Flash, or be Spider-Man (his all-time favorite superhero).

What “Home” Means to Elijah

For Elijah, home is a place where you can feel comfortable, vulnerable, and safe—where family plays a big role. He’s especially excited about HHI’s mission to support Black and Latino communities. Growing up in marginalized neighborhoods, he witnessed firsthand the challenges many face, including exposure to gang violence simply by proximity. That lived experience fuels his passion for this work.

If he could change one thing in his community, it would be the stereotyping of marginalized people. Elijah believes Black and Latino communities are often misunderstood, leading to serious and harmful consequences.

We’re grateful to have Elijah on the HHI team and look forward to the impact he’ll make during his internship and beyond.
