Former CEO of UnidosUS, Raul Yzaguirre, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom following his recent passing. Raul’s lifelong dedication to community advocacy was evident in the many aspects of his work. Raul helped bridge communities in a shared vision of inclusiveness.
As the first Latino elected to the executive committee of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, Raul was recognized as the first Hispanic to be selected for the Rockefeller Public Service Award. This prestigious award was presented by Coretta Scott King on behalf of the Trustees of Princeton University. Those who knew and remember Raul state he was a trailblazer for the Latino community.
